What To Expect With a Dallas Tooth Extraction
When it’s time for your tooth extraction, you can feel comforted knowing Dr. Chilcoat always has your best interest in mind. He’ll administer a local anaesthetic to ensure you feel no pain at the treatment site. Nitrous oxide is also available if any jitters remain.
Once anaesthesia has taken effect, the procedure can begin. Here’s what you can expect.
First, Dr. Chilcoat will remove the tooth. If it’s an impacted tooth (see number three above), he will have to cut the gums in order to extract to tooth.
Once the tooth has been removed in a single or multiple pieces, Dr. Chilcoat will pack the socket, or the hole that’s left by the missing tooth, with gauze, and stitches when necessary.
Post-care instructions include managing pain with an over-the-counter medication and ice pack as necessary. In most cases, pain and swelling should subside after a few days.
